Mental health is a safety issue, a workforce issue, and an industry issue, and it’s a conversation the construction community needs to keep having.
Join NUCA of Colorado for our September Virtual Roundtable featuring Richard “Rich” Jones, Founder & CEO of BuildWell Health, for an open and practical discussion about mental health and behavioral health in the construction industry.
Construction professionals face unique pressures from demanding schedules and physical strain to stress, burnout, substance use, and the long-standing culture of simply “toughing it out.” This roundtable will look at how companies can move beyond simply acknowledging these challenges and begin building workplaces where employees are better equipped to recognize when someone is struggling, start meaningful conversations, and connect people with effective support.
Rich brings more than 25 years of experience in behavioral health and is a nationally recognized advocate for improving how the construction industry approaches mental health, substance use, recovery, and peer support.
We’ll discuss topics including:
- Mental health and behavioral health challenges facing the construction workforce
- Breaking down stigma and creating a culture where asking for help is supported
- Recognizing when a coworker or employee may be struggling
- The role of supervisors, leadership, and peer support
- Practical ways companies can strengthen mental health resources and workplace culture
- How mental health fits into the broader conversation about jobsite safety
This is intended to be an interactive roundtable, so attendees are encouraged to bring questions, share experiences, and participate in the conversation.
Mental health belongs in the safety conversation. Join us as we continue working toward a safer, stronger, and more supportive construction industry.
