Holiday Stress & Mental Health in Construction: NUCA of Colorado Virtual Safety Roundtable

Date: Wednesday, December 10th
Time: 10:00–11:00 a.m. (MT)
Format: Virtual (Zoom link sent upon registration)

The holidays can bring unique pressures to construction teams, tight deadlines, reduced staffing, financial stress, and the challenge of balancing heavy workloads with family commitments. Join NUCA of Colorado for an essential discussion focused on supporting mental health and well-being during one of the most demanding times of the year.

What We’ll Cover:

  • Understanding Holiday Stress in Construction: Balancing work and holiday obligations, managing backlog concerns, coping with reduced staffing, and handling financial pressures all contribute to heightened stress during the holiday season.
  • Mental Health & Suicide Awareness in Construction: Construction faces one of the highest suicide rates, along with significant stress and stigma that often prevent workers from seeking help.
  • Practical Strategies for Leaders & Team: Encourage open dialogue through toolbox talks, plan time off and balance workloads, provide quick access to support resources, and promote mindfulness and stress management practices.
  • Available Resources & Support: Internal resources, industry resources and family and community resources. (Handouts and presentation will be available)
  • Open Discussion & Action Planning: Identify team barriers, determine ways to embed mental health resources into daily operations, and appoint champions to lead awareness efforts

Who Should Attend:
Supervisors, safety professionals, HR leaders, mental health advocates, and field teams.

Why It Matters:
Mental health is as vital as physical safety—unaddressed stress increases the risk of errors, injuries, and fatalities. Taking action now helps protect your teams and strengthens your safety culture heading into the new year.

Registration: Complimentary for NUCA of Colorado members; Non-members welcome to attend as guests – come see the value of being part of NUCA!
